  • Naruko Gorge is one of the most renowned autumn color destinations in Miyagi, with colors typically peaking mid-October through early November. A bouquet of color envelops the hillsides of the winding gorge. Unfortunately, due to damage caused by the 2011 earthquake, the full length of the gorge walking trail is no longer open. Visitors can still enjoy the iconic view of the bridge and gorge from the rest house and walk a shortened section of the gorge walking trail though. After appreciating the scenery, head to one of the nearby communities such as Naruko Onsen, Higashi-Naruko, or Onikobe to enjoy their distinctive onsen hot springs.
