Started in 2001, the Arabaki Rock Festival is one of the most famous annual music events in Tohoku, drawing in an audience from all over the country. Around 50,000 people attend each year over the two days of festivities. The event aims to bring culture, history, and rock music together and raise awareness of the kindness and local culture of people in Tohoku, all while promoting new and creative lifestyles. The event takes place at Michinoku Park, a huge public park in the foothills of Mt. Zao. As for the music itself, many acclaimed Japanese artists take the stage throughout, including household names such as the pillows, frederic, and 9mm Parabellum Bullet.

Since last year, the organizers have started offering online ticket sales in English, aimed at those abroad interested in the event. To purchase tickets, see here.
