  • Yupoppo is a day-trip hot springs facility popular with locals and visitors alike. It is part of the Ban Shigeru-designed Onagawa Station. The tile walls of the bathhouse are painted with a soothing mural depicting a pastoral scene of deer grazing on the nearby holy island Kinkasan. The water is piped in from a natural hot spring source nearby. It is mildly alkaline, said to be good for clearing pores and beautifying the skin. Bathers are free to come empty handed—complimentary soap and shampoo are available inside the bathhouse, and the gift shop downstairs sells branded Yupoppo towels that double as souvenirs.

After bathing, enjoy a cold beer or soft drink in the high-ceilinged lounge on the second floor.
