The following is the article created before the cancellation was decided.
A one-night-only event held every year at Aone Onsen, a renowned hot spring town surrounded by beautiful nature and mountains that is said to have been one of Date Masamune’s favorite hot springs. Once a year, local residents and children get together to build over two thousand hokora (small shrines) out of ice and snow and fill them with candles. The hokora are then lit up in the evening to create a romantic, almost otherworldly looking landscape. Visitors are even invited to light some of the candles themselves!
Free tonjiru (Japanese pork soup) and tama konnyaku will be offered to the first 600 visitors.2020 Schedule
